About the data

Source: Vehicle Crashes in Iowa, Iowa Department of Transportation, on the Iowa Data portal. One row per reported crash.

Severity is the most severe injury in the crash. Serious means fatal or a major injury. Deaths counts people killed; fatal crashes counts crashes with at least one death.

Alcohol or drugs counts crashes where the report indicates alcohol or drug involvement; crashes where a test was refused are not counted.

This dashboard is built from the complete public crash file. The original Power BI charts in the project use a merged extract of the crash, driver and injury files, so their counts differ.
